a friend of mine claims that she will be taking some medications and one of the side effects that'll occur is amnesia, which will last a few days. is this possible? i've never heard of any medication that'll cause amnesia. anyone?Are there any medications out there that has a side effect of amnesia?
Benzodiazepines can cause confusion and memory problems, also Rohypnol [ the infamous date-rape drug ] can cause short term memory loss. However no one can say a side effect WILL occur, only the possibility that it MAY occur. Everyone reacts differently to different meds.Are there any medications out there that has a side effect of amnesia?
Personal case- physician going to London for a meeting- took a benzodiazapine sleeper on the plane. Woke up in the aircraft in London, had no idea where he was, why he was on an aircraft, or how he got there. Middle aged, healty man. First time he took a sleeper. He lost several hours, and still has no recollection of even going to the airport,making the amnesia retrograde to before the dose. Worked him up for any other cause-TIA, etc, nothing.
