Anything that can provide a link to the past memories that are still present, just suppressed. There isn't really anything that we could specifically list here, as it would all differ from person to person. For example, a baseball might help one person remember while an elephant might help another person remember, you never know.
Also, dreams help people remember things, because dreams can involve any of those suppressed memories, due to the fact that dreams often involve suppressed feelings, desires, and remembrances.
In the end, though, amnesia like we have seen on television and in movies is quite rare. In face, it almost never happens, and when it does, it is usually quite short lived. If you had amnesia, what are some things to trigger you into remembering?
in stories the person usually remembers when faced with a situation similar to the one where he lost his memory, in the nick of time to save his friends. If you had amnesia, what are some things to trigger you into remembering?
I've heard the sense of smell is one of the most effective triggers of suppressed memory.
Also hearing music,or familiar sounds.
Seeing people/places close to them, or objects that were meaningful to them.
