My friend is a psychiatrist, and one of his patients is saying he doesn't remember anything, but we both have our doubts, is there a way to expose fake amnesia?
That is, if it really is fake. How do you expose fake amnesia?
Your friend, who is a psychiatrist, told you that his patient doesn't remember anything? Why is he telling you anything about one of his patients?
I'm sorry, but your friend is violating patient confidentiality. How do you expose fake amnesia?
Your friend the psychiatrist should be aware that it is unethical to discuss patients with anyone.Any psychiatrist should also had training to distinguish between factitious disorder , malingering and the different types of amnesia. This includes anterograde and retrograde amnesia. There is no such condition as fake amnesia. Amnesia is very rare.Your friend should refer this patient to a forensic psychiatrist who has more experience of claimed memory loss. How do you expose fake amnesia?
He MIGHT acctually feel this way; he might be tricking his mind into thinking he has amenesia. Maybe to to bad anxiety etc. i dont think he accually has this just take time and talk to him.
