How come people who suffer from amnesia don't forget things like how to talk/walk/behave?

How come those people who suffer from horrible amnesia (I'm talking about the type where you forget your entire past and memories) don't forget what words mean (how to talk) or how to move their bodies in order to walk or how is it Ok to behave in curtain places but just forget things that happened to them. What separates these memories from those? How come people who suffer from amnesia don't forget things like how to talk/walk/behave?
you can't lose all your memories and forget your entire past and do those things, if that happened, then you wouldn't be able to talk well or know how to behave. you would go into a baby like state, being able to walk awkwardly, your speaking skills would be elementary. when you speak of total amnesia, you would lose that other information, that person is probably close to a vegetable. but there are so many different forms to amnesia go look up amnesia on wikipedia and im sure they have additional information

There are different types of memory for different functions.
because pr brain is divided in two parts.. the right and the left one.. amnesia affects only the right part, with memories and stuff..How come people who suffer from amnesia don't forget things like how to talk/walk/behave?
I think they also forget how to talk, so they have to learn the alphabet again. but I'm not sure about behaviour and walking.
