Will a person with amnesia remember having it once they regain their memory?

I'm currently writing a novel in which the protagonist has amnesia.

Now I realize I don't know quite how amnesia works. LOL! Let's say a person suffers from amnesia for one month. When they do eventually regain their memory, will they remember the month they spent as an amnesiac?

Thanks! Will a person with amnesia remember having it once they regain their memory?
Everything I've ever heard indicates that they retain their memories that start after they have amnesia. Their old memories just come back (gradually or suddenly) and exist alongside their current ones. Will a person with amnesia remember having it once they regain their memory?
That's not how it works.

Say you hit your head and develop amnesia. You forget things that happened in any period of time before that, depending on what part of ur head u hit. But u don't ever forget things that have happened after you've hit your head.

So if someone has told him he's lost some memory, he'll know he's lost some memory. Will a person with amnesia remember having it once they regain their memory?
yea they r gnna remeber
i forgot the question. sry
