Is it possible to get a type of amnesia that makes you forget EVERYTHING?

by everything, i mean not just who you are and the people you know or the life you lead, but also what winking or hugging means, why people do things a certain way in society and things like that.

i know that memory of motor-skills, memory of past actions/people, memory of how to read or write or count, or of certain languages are all stored in different parts of the brain. but lets suppose certain areas that store the social norms AND the parts that store personal life experiences are compromised in some way, would that type of amnesia be possible? Is it possible to get a type of amnesia that makes you forget EVERYTHING?
Possible, yes. Likely, NO. Usually caused by brain damage or disease in the verified cases that it has happened (or lobectomy). For the people that 'claim' to have total amnesia, everyone is skeptical. Is it possible to get a type of amnesia that makes you forget EVERYTHING?
I guess so, yeah. Not sure if I'd call it amnesia, though. It's more like brain damage for something to be that serious. Say, a heavy injury to your head that might make you mentally retarded, unable to do anything.
